RAINBOW MOUNTAIN HIKE
As an introduction the Mountain of 7 Colors is also known as Vinicunca and it is an incredible attraction of the mountain of Ausangate. Because of its unique beauty it has become one of the most popular attractions being a mandatory stop in the city of Cusco, it is already part of the 20 most spectacular attractions in Peru. Therefore, if you travel to Peru, you will have to visit if or if the mountain of the 7 colors (Vinicunca), you can not miss this adventure.
Rainbow Mountain or Vinicunca its striking natural beauty has been cataloged by the National Geographic magazine as “one of the 100 destinations that must travel before dying.”
This image of the rainbow reflected on the high Andean mountains, is the whim of nature, which often surprises us, with its shapes and colors, as if taken from a brush by an artist, as well as this fabulous mountain of rainbows that is almost unique in the world.
The mountain of Vinicunca is known, as the mountain of 7 colors or rainbow mountain, but its original name is “Winikunca”, word that comes from two Quechua words Wini / Kunca that mean:
- Wini, comes from “Wini Rumi“, “black stones“, why the place is surrounded by tremendous black stones
- Kunca means “Neck“, by the narrow mountain, which resembles a neck.

Rainbow Mountain, has a privileged location, is located within the route to Ausangate, considered the 5th highest peak in Peru, and the Apu tutelary of the Cusco region.
Ausangate and Vinicunca, are to the south of Cusco next to an abra that divides to 2 districts, Pitumarca and Cusipata, pertaining to the province of Canchis, to a height that surpasses the 5.200 meters on the level of the sea.

How to get to the Rainbow Mountain
For the amount of tourists that attracts the mountain, the authorities together with the inhabitants of the two different districts, enabled new routes facilitating the entry of tourists.
For example, to date there are three routes:
- First route and entry is through Pitumarca – Checacupe – Quesyuno, from this point you had to walk around 4 to 5 hours, this route is the route considered the most heavy and difficult.
- Second route and entrance is through Pitumarca – Checacupe – Pampachiri, from this point you walk approximately 3 to 4 hours depending on the physical condition of the tourist.
- Third route and entrance by Cusipata – Phulawasipata, the walking time is from 1 to 2 hours depending on the physical state.

The humantay lagoon is formed as a melting product of a large snowy mountain that in turn forms part of a mountain range called Cordillera de Vilcabamba.
What makes the Humantay Lagoon distinctive is the natural color that it possesses since it does not have much marine flora in its waters. HOW TO GET TO THE LAGUNA DE HUMANTAY
Very early in the morning we will embark you a trip of 2 and a half hours from the city of Cusco to the town of Mollepata, this time is enough to enjoy the Andean landscape and the warm valleys that bring so much harmony. In this town we can enjoy a breakfast, since you will return to the bus to travel to the community of Soraypampa.
Soraypampa is the town from which we will depart in the direction of the Humantay lagoon and the only thing to do is follow a one-way road, it is safe to say that there is no worry of getting lost since the end of this road is the Humantay lagoon.
The Humantay lagoon witnessed several events carried out by its own visitors such as requests for hand, payments to the land, ceremonies with Andean masters, throwing coins to create a wish and romantic postcards that are easily virilized in social networks thanks to the unique landscape of this place.
For the return to Cusco we will take the same one-way route not without first enjoying a lunch with Novo Andina food as well as the organic products of the area.
FLIGHT OF CONDOR CUSCO – CHONTA
This viewpoint is the natural sanctuary of the Andean condor, you will see a number of condors flying majestically through this beautiful valley, in the Inca era, the condor was considered a sacred and totemic bird.
This tour of the flight of the Condor in the Apurímac canyon is a new tourist route recommended for nature lovers and bird watchers. HOW TO GET TO THE FLIGHT OF CONDOR CHONTA
Early at 07:00 in the morning we will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco to start our incredible adventure. In our transportation we will head to Limatambo for a route full of unique natural and cultural attractions. We will make some stops to visit 2 Inca Archaeological Centers, Quillarumiyuc; a temple dedicated to the Moon with its beautiful waterfall, and Tarawasi that has walls of stones of polygonal shape that show the perfect architecture of the Incas and the importance of this place.
We will continue our journey until we reach the Chonta, By 12:00 p.m., we will arrive at the Community of Chonta, a place where we will taste a lunch with magnificent views of Salkantay. In this community, we will begin the walk of about 45 minutes until arriving at the Viewpoint of the Condor Canyon located at 3,380 masl. Here, we will wait for the Condors (Sacred Bird) to return from your daily activities, and after a short time we will have the opportunity to observe the impressive Andean Condor in full flight and in its natural habitat. He will pass very close to us and you will be able to take many photos. After this incredible experience, we will return to the Community of Chonta walking and continuing to the city of Cusco in our transportation, arriving at 08:00 at night.
